TECH – Xiaomi has taken another step into smart home innovation with a striking new washing machine that stands out for its three-drum design and deep integration with its HyperOS smart ecosystem — a rare blend of hardware muscle and intelligent connectivity that aims to redefine home laundry. The announcement, reported by Kompas and supported by global tech coverage, highlights how this appliance goes beyond simply spinning clothes to become a connected hub in the modern household.

At its core, the new Xiaomi Mijia triple-drum washer features three independently controlled compartments. This means users can wash different types of garments simultaneously — delicates in one drum, everyday wear in another, and heavier items like bedding in the main chamber — all without risking cross-contamination of fabrics or scents. Enthusiasts and early hands-on reporting note that this setup dramatically increases flexibility for families juggling mixed laundry loads.

Beyond its unusual drum layout, the machine incorporates advanced cleaning technologies, including Super Electrolysis Technology that enhances stain removal and brightness of fabrics. Early impressions suggest this could outperform many conventional washers in tackling persistent marks without harsh chemical residues. The drums also have independent suspension systems, which help cut down on noise and vibration during heavy cycles — a perennial sore point in traditional designs.

Connectivity is a major part of Xiaomi’s pitch. Linked via HyperOS Connect, the washer pairs seamlessly with Xiaomi’s Mi Home app, letting owners start cycles, customise wash modes, schedule operations and monitor progress from their smartphone. Some versions also respond to voice commands through the broader HyperOS ecosystem, blurring the line between kitchen chores and smart automation.

The machine is launching initially in China, with two capacity options — a 10 kg model and a larger 14 kg variant — priced competitively for its feature set. Reports mention the 10 kg model around CNY 3,999 and the bigger version at roughly CNY 6,499, though international availability hasn’t been confirmed yet.

For homeowners used to juggling loads or wishing for smarter integration into their daily routines, Xiaomi’s approach represents a fresh take on a familiar appliance. With interconnected control and advanced cleaning tech, this washing machine is not just about fabrics getting clean — it’s about fitting seamlessly into a future where household chores are more efficient, better connected, and less disruptive to busy lives.
