TECH – China’s automotive market is witnessing another milestone as BYD’s premium off-road sub-brand, Fang Cheng Bao (FCB), surpasses 600,000 cumulative vehicle sales. The achievement highlights the growing popularity of its rugged SUVs and electrified vehicles, even as the company faces increasing pressure to keep deliveries running smoothly. According to CarNewsChina, in its November 1, 2026, report, the milestone comes as FCB prepares to introduce its upcoming Ti9 model amid acknowledged delivery constraints.
Since its establishment, Fang Cheng Bao has positioned itself as a distinctive player in China’s increasingly competitive new-energy vehicle market. Rather than concentrating exclusively on conventional passenger cars, the brand focuses on SUVs with adventurous styling, advanced electric powertrains, and off-road capabilities. Its growing customer base demonstrates that demand for electrified vehicles is expanding beyond urban commuters into more specialised segments.
However, strong sales have also created operational challenges. BYD Executive Vice President and FCB General Manager Zhang Yong acknowledged that delivery capacity has become a significant bottleneck as customer demand continues to increase. The company is working to improve production efficiency and strengthen its supply chain to ensure that vehicles reach buyers more quickly.
These difficulties are particularly important as FCB prepares for the launch of the Ti9, a new model expected to expand the brand’s presence in the premium SUV category. The upcoming vehicle will enter a market where consumers increasingly expect advanced driver-assistance systems, sophisticated cabin technology, and competitive electric driving performance.

The Ti9 launch could therefore become an important test of BYD’s ability to balance product expansion with manufacturing capacity. Introducing a new model while existing vehicles already face delivery delays risks placing additional pressure on production facilities, logistics networks, and component suppliers.
The brand’s best-selling model, the Ti 7, has been a major contributor to this growth. It recently surpassed 300,000 cumulative sales, accounting for approximately half of FCB’s total deliveries. The SUV has also maintained its leading position in China’s boxy SUV category for 12 consecutive months. Meanwhile, the company is expanding beyond SUVs through its Formula S electric sedan and Formula S GT shooting brake, broadening its appeal to different customer groups.
FCB General Manager Xiong Tianbo acknowledged that October deliveries fell short of internal expectations because of production ramp-up difficulties involving newly introduced product lines. The company intends to increase manufacturing output throughout November to reduce customer waiting times.
The upcoming Ti 9 is expected to become another important addition to the lineup. Measuring 5,270 millimeters long, the six-seat plug-in hybrid SUV combines a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine with two electric motors producing a combined 536 horsepower. Its 66.48 kWh battery provides a claimed electric driving range of 310 kilometers under China’s WLTC testing cycle. The model is expected to launch after November 15, with pricing yet to be announced.

FCB is also preparing to introduce its Shark plug-in hybrid pickup to the Chinese domestic market, with customer deliveries scheduled for December. The expanding portfolio reflects BYD’s ambition to compete across several vehicle categories rather than relying on a single successful product.
Correction to the earlier paragraph: The executive who acknowledged the delivery challenges is Xiong Tianbo, FCB’s General Manager, not Zhang Yong.
As competition intensifies in China’s new-energy vehicle market, BYD’s ability to increase production efficiently could become just as important as its growing collection of attractive new models.
