TECH – Microsoft has introduced the Xbox Nano Controller, a compact gaming accessory designed to make playing on the go more convenient. Aimed particularly at younger gamers and people with smaller hands, the new controller combines a pocket-friendly build with the familiar controls found on traditional Xbox gamepads.

According to Gizmochina’s October 15 report, the controller measures slightly more than five inches in length and weighs approximately 3.5 ounces, or 99 grams. Despite its small dimensions, it retains all 18 standard gameplay inputs, allowing players to use a familiar button layout without switching to a simplified control scheme. Its lightweight construction also makes it easier to carry when traveling, visiting friends, or moving between gaming spaces.

The Xbox Nano Controller includes a built-in rechargeable battery and a programmable Action Button. Users can assign the button to frequently used functions, including taking screenshots and recording gameplay. This customization provides quicker access to selected features without requiring players to navigate through menus during a session.

Connectivity is another key feature. The controller supports Xbox Wireless for compatible Xbox consoles and Bluetooth for supported Windows computers, iOS and Android devices, and smart TVs. This flexibility allows players to use one compact gamepad across different gaming setups, although compatibility depends on the device and game.

Microsoft also highlights the controller’s potential for multiplayer gaming. Titles such as Minecraft Dungeons II, which supports cooperative play for up to four players, could benefit from having an additional controller available for family members or friends. Its small size may also appeal to players who want to pack gaming accessories without carrying a full-sized gamepad.

The Xbox Nano Controller is priced at $49.99 in the United States, with preorders available through Microsoft’s official website. According to Gizmochina, the device is scheduled to arrive in November 2026 across selected markets, including the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, China and Japan, alongside several European and Latin American countries. Microsoft says regional pricing and availability may differ.

The launch also comes with seasonal promotions in the United States. Eligible Samsung TV buyers can receive the controller alongside two months of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate for new subscribers. A similar offer is available with selected Meta Quest headsets.

For players seeking a smaller alternative to conventional controllers, Microsoft’s latest accessory offers portability without abandoning the standard Xbox control layout.
