TECH – Apple appears to be preparing another MacBook Pro refresh, with the long-rumored M6-powered model now expected to arrive later this year. According to GadgetDiva, Apple is reportedly getting ready to introduce a new MacBook Pro featuring its next-generation M6 processor. Recent reports from Bloomberg and other Apple-focused publications point toward a late-2026 launch, although Apple has yet to officially confirm the machine.
The biggest attraction could be the M6 chip itself. Reports suggest it may become Apple’s first processor manufactured using a 2-nanometer process, moving beyond the 3nm technology used by recent M-series chips. A smaller manufacturing process can allow more transistors to fit into the same space while potentially improving performance and power efficiency. For a laptop, that combination could mean faster workloads without demanding significantly more energy.
The M6 is also expected to receive improvements aimed at artificial intelligence and graphics. Reports indicate that Apple is working on an updated Neural Engine and a redesigned GPU, with some test configurations featuring up to 12 GPU cores compared with 10 on the M5. Memory bandwidth could also rise to around 200GB/s, up from approximately 153GB/s on the M5, potentially helping graphics-heavy applications and on-device AI tasks.

Interestingly, the first M6 MacBook Pro may not be the dramatic redesign some Apple fans are waiting for. Current reports indicate that the entry-level 14-inch model could retain the familiar chassis and mini-LED display used by the existing generation. The more ambitious MacBook Pro redesign, including an OLED display and possible touch support, is reportedly being reserved for a later model that could arrive in late 2026 or early 2027.
Apple is also reportedly skipping M6 Pro and M6 Max chips, instead moving toward the M7 generation for higher-end machines. That would make the standard M6 something of a transitional chip rather than the beginning of a complete MacBook Pro overhaul.
GadgetDiva’s report therefore arrives at an interesting moment for Apple’s laptop strategy. The M6 MacBook Pro could focus heavily on internal improvements while leaving the exterior largely untouched, giving users faster silicon without immediately changing the familiar Pro formula. Meanwhile, the bigger visual transformation may be waiting just around the corner.
