TECH – Huawei has officially introduced a vibrant dual-color edition of its FreeClip 2 wireless earbuds, combining eye-catching aesthetics with advanced audio technology and artificial intelligence. Announced during the company’s Double Eleven product launch event in China, the new variant retains the distinctive open-ear design of the original model while introducing colorful finishes and interchangeable accessories. According to Gizmochina, the earbuds also feature a powerful audio processor designed to deliver improved sound performance and smarter listening experiences.
Unlike conventional earbuds that sit inside the ear canal, the FreeClip 2 uses Huawei’s signature C-shaped bridge to connect its acoustic components around the ear. The design combines skin-friendly liquid silicone with memory metal, which Huawei says makes it 25% softer than the first-generation FreeClip. Each earbud weighs approximately 5.1 grams, allowing users to wear them comfortably throughout the day while remaining aware of surrounding sounds. The earbuds also carry an IP57 rating for dust and water resistance.
The biggest technological upgrade comes from Huawei’s third-generation self-developed audio chip, which incorporates a neural processing unit (NPU) for AI-related tasks. Huawei claims the processor offers ten times the computing power of the original FreeClip, enabling more sophisticated audio processing and intelligent features. The earbuds use a 10.8mm dual-diaphragm, dual-engine driver system, which the company says doubles both loudness and low-frequency output compared with the first-generation model.
Additional features include adaptive volume adjustment, voice enhancement, spatial audio, and support for Huawei’s L2HC audio codec. Head-tracking latency has reportedly been reduced by 40%, potentially improving the sense of immersion when listening to compatible spatial audio content.

Huawei has also integrated its Harmony AI assistant, offering functions such as voice activation, intelligent notifications, head-gesture controls, and translation. The charging case supports NearLink-based precision finding, helping users locate it if misplaced. These capabilities aim to make the FreeClip 2 more than a simple audio accessory, particularly for people who frequently move between calls, music, and everyday tasks.
Battery life is another highlight. Huawei rates the earbuds for up to nine hours of music playback on a single charge, extending to 38 hours when used with the charging case. Each earbud contains a 60mAh battery, while the case houses a 537mAh cell. A quick ten-minute charge can reportedly provide around three additional hours of listening, making short charging breaks more practical.
The new edition comes in three color combinations: red and yellow, blue and yellow, and red and blue. Each package includes a bright yellow charging case and interchangeable decorative rings, allowing users to customize the earbuds’ appearance.
In China, the Huawei FreeClip 2 dual-color edition is priced at 1,299 yuan, approximately US$195. A limited-time discount reduces the price to 1,249 yuan, or around US$187, through participating sales channels. Sales began on October 28, 2026, through Huawei’s Vmall store and authorized retailers.
While the dual-color edition retains the standard FreeClip 2’s core specifications, its distinctive styling and AI-powered audio features give Huawei another way to stand out in the increasingly crowded wireless earbud market.
