TECH – BYD is preparing to raise the bar in China’s competitive sedan market with the 2027 Qin Plus, unveiling an updated cabin that combines modern styling, improved comfort, and advanced technology. The latest interior images reveal the automaker’s efforts to make its next-generation plug-in hybrid more appealing to drivers seeking practicality without sacrificing a premium feel. According to CarNewsChina, which published the interior details on October 22, 2026, the redesigned model is expected to reach the Chinese market in late October.

The cabin features a large floating infotainment touchscreen paired with a digital instrument cluster, giving the dashboard a distinctly contemporary appearance. A newly designed two-spoke multifunction steering wheel adds to the refreshed layout, while semi-hidden air vents and soft ambient lighting create a cleaner, more sophisticated atmosphere. BYD has also incorporated soft-touch materials throughout the interior, alongside redesigned seats intended to improve comfort on longer journeys. Additional storage solutions and a larger panoramic sunroof further enhance the cabin’s everyday practicality.

The changes extend beyond the interior. The 2027 Qin Plus adopts a wider, lower-looking exterior profile, with a broad horizontal front fascia and a sweeping waistline running toward the rear. Its more muscular rear end features BYD’s distinctive Chinese Knot-inspired full-width taillights, while new 17-inch sport wheels contribute to the updated appearance. Buyers will also have a fresh Island Blue paint option inspired by the sea.

The new sedan measures 4,840 millimeters long, 1,900 millimeters wide, and 1,498 millimeters tall, with a wheelbase of 2,800 millimeters. These larger dimensions should help provide a more spacious cabin than the outgoing model.

Under the hood, the plug-in hybrid powertrain delivers another significant selling point. CarNewsChina reports fuel consumption of just 2.58 liters per 100 kilometers when the battery’s charge is depleted. Its claimed pure-electric driving range reaches 220 kilometers under China’s testing cycle, equivalent to approximately 178 kilometers under WLTP standards. With a full tank and fully charged battery, the combined range exceeds 2,290 kilometers, or around 1,855 kilometers on the WLTP cycle. These figures could make the sedan particularly attractive to drivers seeking fewer fuel stops and greater flexibility for long-distance travel.

Pricing, however, remains unconfirmed. The current Qin Plus sells for between 79,800 and 99,800 yuan in China, equivalent to approximately US$11,775–14,725. The redesigned version could command a higher price because of its larger body and the addition of a LiDAR sensor, which may support more advanced driver-assistance capabilities. BYD has yet to announce the final specifications, equipment packages, or official pricing for the updated model.

As competition in China’s automotive market intensifies, the Qin Plus refresh demonstrates BYD’s strategy of combining cabin refinement, improved efficiency, and technology in a family-oriented sedan. Its expanded dimensions and long-range hybrid capability could help distinguish it from rivals, particularly among buyers who want electric driving for everyday commutes without depending entirely on charging infrastructure.
