TECH – RedMagic is pushing mobile gaming hardware further with the launch of its new RedMagic 12 Pro+ in China. The latest flagship from Nubia’s gaming-focused brand combines a powerful Qualcomm processor, an ultra-fast display and an elaborate cooling system designed to sustain performance during demanding gaming sessions.

According to HardwareZone Singapore’s October 20 report, the smartphone is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chipset. Its two prime CPU cores can reach clock speeds of 5.0GHz, while the Adreno GPU delivers a reported 12% performance improvement over its predecessor. The processor also introduces upgraded artificial intelligence capabilities for compatible applications and workloads.

The device features a 6.85-inch OLED display with a resolution of 2,688 × 1,216 pixels and a refresh rate of 185Hz. Its 0.96mm bezels help maximize screen space, while an under-display selfie camera eliminates the usual cutout. RedMagic also includes a dedicated RedCore R5 chip to support features such as ray tracing, resolution enhancement and frame interpolation in compatible games.

Touch responsiveness receives special attention, too. The phone’s touch controller offers an average sampling rate of 500Hz, with instantaneous sampling reaching 5,000Hz. Dedicated shoulder triggers provide additional controls for supported games, giving players another way to execute actions without covering the main display.

Keeping the hardware cool is equally important. The RedMagic 12 Pro+ combines its TurboFan 5.0 cooling fan, capable of reaching 25,550 revolutions per minute, with a liquid-cooling system featuring a dual crystal micro-pump. RGB lighting is integrated into the cooling module, adding a distinctive visual effect to the transparent design.

Battery capacity is another major highlight. The handset packs an 8,400mAh battery with support for 120W wired charging and 80W wireless charging. It also includes an upgraded PC emulator that can connect with Steam accounts, alongside stereo speakers certified for Dolby Atmos.

The phone measures 8.5mm thick and weighs 223 grams, reflecting the substantial hardware packed inside. RedMagic has launched the Chinese model in three configurations: 12GB RAM and 256GB storage for 6,999 yuan, 16GB and 512GB for 7,999 yuan, and 16GB and 1TB for 8,999 yuan.

HardwareZone reports that the international version will be marketed as the RedMagic 12 Pro, with global pricing and availability details scheduled for announcement on November 3, 2026.
