TECH – MediaTek is stepping up its mid-range chipset game with the official launch of the Helio G200, a new 4G SoC that succeeds the Helio G100. While retaining the power efficiency of its predecessor, the G200 brings meaningful upgrades in camera capabilities, network performance, and overall efficiency — aiming squarely at budget smartphones with premium ambitions.
Faster, Smarter, and More Efficient
Built on TSMC’s 6nm process, the Helio G200 features an octa-core CPU configuration: two Cortex-A76 cores clocked at 2.2GHz and six Cortex-A55 cores at 2.0GHz, paired with a Mali-G57 MC2 GPU at 1.1GHz. This setup promises improved multitasking and smoother gaming, with better power management compared to earlier 4G chips in its class.
Big Camera Upgrade: Up to 200MP and HDR Boost
One of the chipset’s standout features is its support for up to 200MP single-camera sensors, or dual 16MP setups — a leap forward for budget smartphones with serious imaging goals. It also introduces 12-bit Dual Conversion Gain (DCG) technology to enhance HDR video recording, enabling sharper detail and better dynamic range, even in challenging lighting.

Stronger 4G with DC SAR Technology
On the connectivity front, the Helio G200 debuts 4G DC SAR (Dynamic Communication Smart Adaptive Response) — a technology designed to optimize network performance in weak signal environments. According to MediaTek, this feature can reduce latency by up to 30% and extend connectivity range by up to 83%, improving the user experience in remote or congested areas.
Multimedia-Ready for Budget Gamers
The G200 supports LPDDR4X RAM at 4,266Mbps, UFS 2.2 storage, and displays up to 2520×1080 resolution at 120Hz. These features make it ideal for entry- to mid-range devices that focus on smooth visuals and fast app response, catering to mobile gamers and multimedia users.
Coming Soon: Tecno Spark 40 Pro+
The first smartphone to feature the Helio G200 will be the Tecno Spark 40 Pro+, underscoring MediaTek’s strategy of partnering with brands that specialize in affordable, feature-rich phones. As competition in the budget segment heats up, the G200 positions itself as a compelling option for OEMs looking to offer better experiences without raising prices.
