Trump Approval Falls to 32% as Iran War Fuels Discontent

INTERNATIONAL – US President Donald Trump’s approval rating has fallen to 32 percent, marking the lowest level of his political career as dissatisfaction grows over the Iran war and rising living costs. The latest figures come from a Reuters/Ipsos poll conducted across the United States.

According to detikNews, citing Reuters, the survey was conducted over four days from September 17 and included 1,277 American adults. The poll has a margin of error of three percentage points. Reuters reported that Trump’s overall approval had stood at 35 percent in the previous survey conducted a week earlier.

The decline has also reached Trump’s Republican base. Support for his job performance among Republicans dropped to 73 percent from 82 percent one week earlier. The survey indicated that concerns over the cost of living have become an increasingly important source of dissatisfaction within the party.

Only 17 percent of respondents approved of Trump’s handling of living costs, while 51 percent of Republicans said they disapproved, compared with 44 percent who approved. The issue is particularly significant as Americans prepare to vote in the November 3 midterm elections.

The Iran conflict has added another layer to those economic concerns. Trump launched military action against Iran in February, and the conflict has contributed to higher gasoline and diesel prices. In the latest Reuters/Ipsos survey, just 24 percent of Americans approved of Trump’s handling of the conflict with Iran.

The poll also found differences across major policy areas. Trump continued to receive strong backing from Republicans on immigration, with 79 percent of party members approving of his approach. Across the broader public, however, only 36 percent approved, while 55 percent disapproved.

Among registered voters, the survey recorded 43 percent support for Democratic candidates compared with 35 percent for Republicans, an eight-point gap that Reuters described as the Democrats’ largest lead in its polling this year. The figures come as economic pressures and the ongoing conflict increasingly shape the political conversation ahead of the November vote.
