Huawei Mate 90 Renders Reveal Triple Punch-Hole Design

TECH – Huawei’s upcoming Mate 90 series has appeared in a fresh set of renders, giving smartphone enthusiasts a clearer look at the front and rear designs of the company’s next flagship family. The images show Huawei retaining its distinctive three-hole display arrangement while introducing different camera treatments for the higher-end models.

According to Gizmochina, the latest images were shared by tipster Digital Chat Station on Weibo, who described the front image as a “high-definition official render.” The picture reportedly shows four Mate 90 models in different colors, all featuring three punch-holes positioned near the top of their displays. The openings are expected to accommodate the selfie camera and sensors used for 3D facial recognition.

The front design appears relatively clean, with flat screens, rounded corners and slim bezels. The side frames also look flatter than those of earlier Mate smartphones, giving the devices a more streamlined appearance. Previous reports have suggested that all four models could feature 6.9-inch flat OLED panels, although Huawei has not yet officially confirmed the complete specifications.

The three-hole arrangement itself is not entirely new. Huawei introduced the design with the Mate 60 series in 2023, initially using it for the selfie camera and 3D facial-unlocking hardware. The Mate 80 lineup later extended the design across all four models, and the Mate 90 family appears ready to continue that approach.

At the rear, the Mate 90 Pro Max is shown with a large circular camera module and XMAGE branding at its center. Its back panel uses a two-section design, combining a textured upper area around the camera with a smoother lower section carrying the Huawei logo. Reported color options include green, pink, white and black, with matching or contrasting camera rings depending on the finish.

The Mate 90 RS Ultimate Design takes a noticeably different route. Its rear camera housing is octagonal rather than circular, while a raised strip runs vertically down the center of the phone. “Ultimate Design” branding appears along the strip, reinforcing its position as the premium member of the lineup. The renders show black, red and white finishes.

Huawei has yet to officially reveal the complete Mate 90 lineup, specifications or pricing. For now, the renders provide the clearest indication of how Huawei intends to evolve the visual identity of its flagship smartphones.
