SINGAPORE – Under the bright lights of Korat’s Chatchai Hall in Thailand, Singapore’s boccia pair Aloysius Gan and Nurulasyiqah Mohd Taha delivered a spectacular performance on 25 January 2026, capturing another gold medal for their nation at the 13th ASEAN Para Games, as reported by The Straits Times. In the BC3 mixed pair final, they overcame Thailand’s Withun Chanthakhat and Ladamanee Kla Han with a 3–1 victory, a match that combined strategic precision with fierce competitive spirit in front of an exuberant crowd. This wasn’t just another win; it was the culmination of three flawless round-robin victories, building on earlier triumphs against teams from Indonesia and Malaysia.

Their success added to Singapore’s growing medal haul at these Games, bringing the country’s total to 13 gold medals, complemented by seven silvers and eight bronzes a tally that already surpasses the nation’s performance in the previous edition of the Games held in Cambodia in 2023.

Long before their mixed pair glory, both athletes had already tasted individual success at the very same venue: Gan edged out Chanthakhat 3–1 in the men’s BC3 showdown, while Nurulasyiqah bested Indonesia’s Suci Kirana Dewi 6–1 in the women’s equivalent, demonstrating dominance on multiple fronts.

Their gold medals have been part of a broader Singaporean surge in boccia at the ASEAN Para Games, contributing to four boccia golds overall so far. Veteran para-athlete Jovin Tan, a four-time Paralympian who switched from sailing to boccia, also joined them on the podium by clinching gold in the men’s individual BC1 event earlier in the competition, extending Singapore’s footprint in the sport.

Beyond the boccia venue, Singapore athletes continued to make their mark across the Games. In para-swimming on the same day, Danielle Moi rewrote the national record in the women’s 100m backstroke S14 with a time of 1 min 22.93 sec, narrowly missing a medal but showing significant promise for future meets. The atmosphere in Korat has been electric throughout the multi-sport event, where athletes from across Southeast Asia have competed fiercely in disciplines ranging from athletics to cycling, reflecting the inclusive spirit and high competitive standards of the ASEAN Para Games.

For Gan and Nurulasyiqah, the victories are not just medals to add to the cabinet but milestones in their sporting journeys — affirmations of talent, resilience and years of disciplined training that have propelled them onto the regional stage and into Singaporean sporting history.
