TECH – In a bold move aimed at redefining portable reading, Xiaomi via its ecosystem brand Moaan has introduced the InkPalm Mini Plus 2, an e-reader that aims to rival Amazon’s Kindle line by offering hefty hardware in a compact, pocket-friendly form. Unveiled in September 2025, this device is set to go on sale in China beginning 22 September.
The InkPalm Mini Plus 2 delivers a 5.84-inch E-Ink display, supporting 256 levels of greyscale and adjustable color temperature with up to 32 settings for warm and cool lighting to reduce strain during long reading sessions. The screen resolution comes in at 1440×720 pixels, yielding sharp text and visuals in slim bezels.
Underneath, Xiaomi equips the InkPalm Mini Plus 2 with a Rockchip RK3566 chipset paired with 6 GB of RAM. The standout feature is its 512 GB of internal storage, a capacity that allows for housing tens of thousands of digital books and more. Battery capacity is rated at 2,250 mAh, and Xiaomi claims up to two weeks of usage under regular conditions. The device is slim (6.9 mm thick) and lightweight (about 140 grams), making it easy to carry for extended periods.

The operating system powering this device is Android 14, offering more freedom compared to some traditional e-readers which lock users into more limited ecosystems. Users can install apps outside a fixed store, further widening functionality beyond just reading texts. Connectivity options include dual-band WiFi, and navigation is aided by physical side buttons, which many readers prefer for easier page turning without touching the screen.
Price in China is set at CNY 1,399 (roughly Rp 3.2 million), with a short-term discount that may drop it to about CNY 1,299 during early sales. As of launch, global availability is unannounced, leaving international readers waiting to see whether Moaan will offer the InkPalm Mini Plus 2 outside China or through import channels.
InkPalm Mini Plus 2 presents itself as a premium e-reader choice for those who want more than just reading: large storage, flexible software, and high-quality display in a minimal, comfortable package. As the market for compact, powerful e-ink devices grows, this model could mark a turning point for what portable reading gadgets can do.
