TECH – Xiaomi has officially introduced its second electric vehicle, the YU7, marking the company’s entry into the SUV segment. Building upon the success of its SU7 electric sedan, the YU7 is designed to compete directly with established models like Tesla’s Model Y. The YU7 is expected to launch in China by June or July 2025, with a starting price around 250,000 yuan (approximately $34,200).
Design and Dimensions
The YU7 features a sleek, aerodynamic design reminiscent of the SU7, with a coupe-like silhouette and modern SUV cues. It measures 4,999 mm in length, 1,996 mm in width, and 1,600 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,000 mm. These dimensions provide a spacious interior, enhanced by premium materials and advanced technology features.

Battery and Range
Battery options for the YU7 include a 96.3 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery supplied by BYD’s FinDreams and a 101.7 kWh nickel-manganese-cobalt (NMC) battery from CATL. Depending on the configuration, the YU7 offers a CLTC range between 670 km and 835 km. The single-motor variant achieves the highest range, while the dual-motor versions offer slightly lower ranges due to increased power consumption.
Interior and Technology
Inside, the YU7 boasts a high-tech, sporty cabin with features like a 16.1-inch central control screen, a 7.1-inch instrument panel, and two rear screens for passengers. The vehicle operates on Xiaomi’s HyperOS, powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8295 chip, ensuring seamless integration with other Xiaomi devices. Additional features include wireless charging pads, electronic door handles, and a LiDAR sensor for advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS).
Market Positioning
With the YU7, Xiaomi aims to leverage its technological expertise to offer a vehicle that combines performance, range, and smart features. The company’s foray into the EV sector signifies a strategic move to diversify its product portfolio and capitalize on the growing demand for electric vehicles globally. The YU7’s competitive pricing and impressive specifications position it as a formidable contender in the electric SUV market.
