The newly shared visuals depict a dark, wing-shaped aircraft peeling away from a pair of massive balloons linked by a long structural truss, a high-altitude airship the company calls SuperTandem. Company president John Powell shared the images himself, describing them simply as “stills from the upcoming Hazel video” while confirming they’re concept animations rather than footage of an actual flight.

That framing matters, because Hazel exists purely on paper and in renderings for now. JP Aerospace, which brands itself “America’s Other Space Program,” has operated as an all-volunteer nonprofit under Powell’s leadership for more than four decades. Its broader Airship to Orbit concept imagines a slow, staged journey rather than a rocket’s violent sprint: a stratospheric airship would first carry passengers and cargo to a high-altitude waypoint called Dark Sky Station, after which a much larger orbital airship would use electric engines to gradually build up to orbital velocity, a process expected to take several days rather than minutes.

TECH – Nvidia’s grip on China’s artificial intelligence market is facing another serious challenge as DeepSeek reportedly prepares to deploy 160,000 Huawei AI accelerators at a massive data center in Inner Mongolia. According to Wccftech, citing a Bloomberg report, the move could become one of the largest known deployments of Huawei AI chips and further strengthen China’s push to reduce its dependence on Nvidia.

The chips in question are Huawei’s next-generation Ascend 950DT processors, which DeepSeek reportedly plans to use primarily for running AI models rather than training them. The facility is being developed at roughly a 1-gigawatt scale, although the 160,000 accelerators would represent only part of its planned computing capacity. Bloomberg-based reporting also indicates that DeepSeek continues to rely on Nvidia hardware for the more demanding training workloads.

The scale of the order is striking. Wccftech estimates that 160,000 Ascend 950DT chips could be worth around $2.56 billion based on a reported price of approximately 111,000 yuan, or $16,000, per chip. Nvidia’s H20, meanwhile, has reportedly been priced between $15,000 and $25,000. The decision therefore appears to involve more than simply choosing the cheaper processor.

Huawei’s 950DT is built around the company’s DaVinci architecture and reportedly features 144GB of high-bandwidth memory, 4TB/s of memory bandwidth and a 2TB/s chip-to-chip interconnect. Huawei says its larger Atlas 950 SuperPoD can connect up to 8,192 Ascend 950DT processors, illustrating the scale of infrastructure the company is targeting.

The development also echoes comments from DeepSeek CEO Liang Wenfeng earlier this year. He argued that Huawei’s systems could perform the same tasks as Nvidia’s GB300 in terms of latency, although he acknowledged that four Huawei GPUs were needed to match one Nvidia GPU and that Huawei remained roughly two years behind.

For Nvidia, the problem is not simply performance. US export restrictions have limited which advanced processors can reach China, while Beijing has increasingly encouraged domestic alternatives. DeepSeek’s reported decision gives Huawei another major opportunity to improve its ecosystem, production scale and software compatibility.

That is why Wccftech’s report describes China as potentially becoming a “lost cause” for Nvidia. The phrase is an assessment rather than an official Nvidia position, but the direction of China’s AI hardware market is becoming increasingly difficult for the American chipmaker to ignore.

The Yangwang U7 has completed a 30,000-kilometer endurance run in less than nine days, while undergoing more than 350 fast-charging sessions along the way. According to Mobitekno, the test was designed to demonstrate the durability of BYD’s latest Blade Battery 2.0 under unusually demanding conditions.

The test took place in Nanning, southern China, where temperatures exceeded 36°C and humidity reached as high as 80 percent. Throughout the run, the U7 maintained a cruising speed of 240 km/h, while its air conditioning remained set at 24°C. The vehicle completed the 30,000 km journey in 8 days, 19 hours, and 58 minutes, according to BYD.

What makes the result particularly interesting is the condition of the battery afterward. Despite covering 30,000 km and undergoing more than 350 flash-charging sessions, the battery reportedly retained 98.7 percent of its original capacity. That represents a measured reduction of only 1.3 percent, giving BYD a striking figure to highlight as it promotes the durability of Blade Battery 2.0.

Yangwang General Manager Hu Xiaoqing also emphasized that the test vehicle was not a specially prepared prototype. It was reportedly a standard production U7 randomly selected from a retail showroom. Hu said, “Yangwang welcomes verification and testing from all independent institutions and individuals,” signaling the company’s willingness to have the results examined beyond its own testing program.

The single endurance run was only part of the broader validation effort. Yangwang said it had deployed 758 U7 test vehicles before the model reached the market, collectively accumulating more than 10.49 million kilometers of testing. The updated U7 also offers battery options of 135.5 kWh and 150 kWh, with the larger pack providing a claimed CLTC range of up to 1,006 km.

Still, the 98.7-percent figure should be viewed as a result from this specific manufacturer-run test rather than proof of identical battery degradation in everyday driving. Even so, subjecting a production EV to extreme heat, sustained high-speed operation and hundreds of rapid charges creates a remarkably intense stress test for its battery technology.

TECH – Huawei is moving closer to the launch of its next-generation tri-fold smartphone, and newly opened pre-orders in China have revealed some of the device’s most important configurations. According to Gizmochina, the Huawei Mate XT 2 will arrive with 16GB of RAM across its entire lineup and offer storage capacities reaching an enormous 2TB, placing the experimental foldable firmly in ultra-premium territory.

The pre-order listings reveal four configurations. Buyers will be able to choose between a 16GB RAM model with 512GB of storage, a 16GB+1TB version, and another 16GB+1TB variant featuring a privacy display. At the top of the range sits a 16GB+2TB model, which combines the privacy display with a bundled stylus. The first three configurations will reportedly be available in Obsidian Black, White and Purple, while the highest-capacity version will be exclusive to Purple.

Huawei has not yet announced official pricing, but expectations are already pointing toward another expensive flagship. The original Mate XT entered the market as a luxury device, and its successor appears set to continue that positioning with unusually generous memory and storage specifications.

The Mate XT 2 also introduces a redesigned folding mechanism called the “Wing Fold” architecture. Other expected features include a pill-shaped front camera cutout, possible 3D facial recognition, heart-rate monitoring and HarmonyOS 7, which is expected to introduce improved multitasking and split-screen tools for the large tri-fold display. The processor remains unconfirmed, although reports suggest Huawei could use either the Kirin 9030S or a new Kirin 9050-series chip.

Huawei is scheduled to officially unveil the Mate XT 2 on Sept. 7 in China. With 2TB of storage packed into a device that unfolds into a tablet-sized screen, the company is clearly betting that the future of smartphones may need more than just another rectangle.

According to Jagat Review, the Arm AGI CPU is designed specifically for modern AI data centers, where increasingly complex workloads are putting new demands on conventional server processors.

For more than three decades, Arm has primarily supplied CPU architectures that companies such as Qualcomm and MediaTek turn into their own chips. The AGI CPU changes that business model by giving Arm a finished processor aimed at generative AI and agentic AI infrastructure. The shift also reflects a change in how data centers handle AI workloads. GPUs remain crucial for intensive model computation, but CPUs are increasingly responsible for the surrounding tasks, including database access, API calls, orchestration and business applications.

The AGI CPU is manufactured by TSMC using a 3nm process and can feature as many as 136 Neoverse V3 cores running at up to 3.7GHz. Arm is using a chiplet-based approach to build the processor, allowing multiple computing components to work together rather than relying on one enormous piece of silicon. At Hot Chips 2026, further technical details showed that the AGI design uses two chiplets, with each chiplet containing 70 CPU cores connected through Arm’s CMN fabric.

The scale becomes even more interesting at the rack level. A server configuration can reportedly accommodate as many as 64 AGI CPUs, creating a huge pool of Arm-based processing power for cloud and AI workloads. Jagat Review says Arm claims the platform can achieve up to twice the efficiency of comparable x86 systems, although real-world performance will depend heavily on software, workload and system configuration.

Meta is reportedly the first customer and co-developer of the processor, while OpenAI, Cloudflare and AWS have also shown interest. The AGI CPU is not intended to operate in isolation, either; it can work alongside accelerators and platforms from companies including NVIDIA, Intel and AMD.

Arm has already outlined plans for future generations of the platform, suggesting this is more than a one-off experiment. With AI infrastructure becoming increasingly heterogeneous, Arm’s decision to build complete server silicon could give data-center operators another route beyond the traditional x86 model. According to The FPS Review, specifications revealed around Intel’s Diamond Rapids architecture show a flagship configuration with up to 256 performance cores, arranged across 16 CPU chiplets and backed by a remarkable 1.28GB of last-level cache.

The details emerged following Intel’s presentation at Hot Chips 2026, where the company provided a deeper look at the architecture behind its upcoming Xeon 7 platform. Rather than simply increasing the size of a single processor die, Intel is embracing a highly modular design that combines multiple compute tiles with base tiles using advanced packaging technology.

Each compute chiplet can contain up to 16 P-cores, meaning the full 16-chiplet configuration reaches 256 cores. Memory and connectivity have also received major upgrades. Diamond Rapids supports up to 16 memory channels, with bandwidth reaching as much as 1.6TB/s using next-generation memory technology. The platform is also expected to offer 128 lanes of high-speed I/O, alongside support for PCIe 6.0 and CXL 3.0.

Intel’s architecture is aimed heavily at modern data-center workloads, including high-performance computing, cloud services and increasingly demanding AI-related applications. With hundreds of cores working together and enormous cache capacity, the processor is designed to keep large volumes of data moving efficiently through the system.

The FPS Review notes that Diamond Rapids represents a substantial architectural shift for Intel’s Xeon family rather than a simple specification bump. Scientists modified its tiny pores with amine groups, essentially giving the material a gatekeeping mechanism that controls exactly when different ions are allowed to enter. Zinc ions move in first, arriving at higher voltages, while much smaller protons wait their turn and slip in later as the voltage drops. Park of KAIST explained the shift in thinking behind the work: “This study demonstrates that protons, previously regarded as ‘troublemakers’ that could degrade battery performance, can instead be used to store more energy.” She added that applying the same principle to other electrode materials could pave the way for batteries that charge quickly while holding far more energy, a combination that has eluded much of the field until now. The findings were published in the journal Chem.

TECH – Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X2 Elite Extreme is turning heads after independent testing showed the flagship laptop processor outperforming competing chips from Intel and AMD by surprisingly wide margins. According to Windows Central, a commissioned study by independent testing group Signal65 found Qualcomm’s X2E-96-100 leading across CPU and AI workloads, including when tested on battery power.

Signal65 compared the Snapdragon X2 Elite Extreme with Intel’s Core Ultra X9 388H and AMD’s Ryzen AI 9 465, two processors designed for modern thin-and-light Windows laptops. In Geekbench 7, Qualcomm’s chip was up to 53% faster than Intel’s processor and as much as 83% ahead of AMD’s offering. The gap became even larger in Cinebench 2026 multi-threaded rendering, where the Snapdragon chip reportedly delivered up to 87% higher performance than both rivals.

The testing becomes more interesting when power conditions enter the picture. Signal65 evaluated the Snapdragon system using Windows’ Balanced mode while running on battery, whereas the Intel and AMD machines were plugged in and configured for Best Performance. Even under those conditions, the Snapdragon X2 Elite Extreme remained ahead across the CPU and AI benchmarks tested.

AI performance was another major advantage. Qualcomm’s Hexagon NPU delivered nearly twice the performance of Intel’s system and approximately 2.4 times the performance of AMD’s chip in the Procyon AI Computer Vision benchmark. The difference is partly explained by the Snapdragon’s 80 TOPS NPU, compared with 50 TOPS units in the competing processors, although the performance gap extends beyond the raw TOPS figures.

Signal65’s findings also reinforce Qualcomm’s argument that its ARM-based laptop processors can combine high performance with power efficiency. The X2 Elite Extreme features 18 Oryon CPU cores and is designed for premium Windows laptops where sustained performance and battery life are both important.

Still, benchmark victories do not automatically translate into superiority in every real-world application. Software compatibility, graphics performance, cooling, laptop design and workloads can all influence how a processor behaves outside controlled testing.

Windows Central noted that the Signal65 study essentially validates the impressive performance Qualcomm has been promising for its latest Snapdragon platform. With the X2 Elite Extreme now showing substantial advantages against Intel and AMD in independent testing, the competition for high-end Windows laptops is becoming considerably more interesting.

While Lenovo has not officially announced the laptop, the leaked material offers an early look at what could become one of its most direct competitors to Apple’s entry-level MacBook.

According to Windows Latest, the IdeaPad Vibe is expected to arrive in seven different color options, giving buyers considerably more choice than the MacBook Neo’s four-color lineup. The leaked renders show a thin-bezel display, a dark keyboard deck, and Lenovo branding that matches the exterior finish. It is a noticeably more playful approach for a Windows laptop market that still leans heavily toward black, silver, and grey.

The hardware choices could make the Vibe even more interesting. Leaked marketing materials point to versions powered by either Qualcomm Snapdragon or AMD processors, although the exact chips have not yet been revealed. That is a considerably fuller selection than the MacBook Neo, which relies primarily on USB-C alongside its headphone jack.

The timing is particularly interesting. Apple’s MacBook Neo has created a new market for relatively affordable laptops with premium-looking designs, and Lenovo appears eager to capitalize on that momentum. Windows Latest notes that the PC industry is also dealing with rising memory costs and higher Windows licensing expenses, making the budget segment increasingly difficult to navigate.

Lenovo has yet to reveal pricing, processor specifications, release timing, or detailed display information for the IdeaPad Vibe. For now, the leaked images suggest that Lenovo’s strategy is not simply to copy Apple, but to offer a more colorful Windows alternative with connectivity that traditional laptop users may appreciate. If the final pricing is competitive, the Vibe could give budget-conscious buyers another reason to look beyond the MacBook logo.
