TECH – BYD is putting its luxury electric sedan through a test that sounds more like a punishment than a routine durability check. The Yangwang U7 has completed a 30,000-kilometer endurance run in less than nine days, while undergoing more than 350 fast-charging sessions along the way. According to Mobitekno, the test was designed to demonstrate the durability of BYD’s latest Blade Battery 2.0 under unusually demanding conditions.

The test took place in Nanning, southern China, where temperatures exceeded 36°C and humidity reached as high as 80 percent. Throughout the run, the U7 maintained a cruising speed of 240 km/h, while its air conditioning remained set at 24°C. The vehicle completed the 30,000 km journey in 8 days, 19 hours, and 58 minutes, according to BYD.

What makes the result particularly interesting is the condition of the battery afterward. Despite covering 30,000 km and undergoing more than 350 flash-charging sessions, the battery reportedly retained 98.7 percent of its original capacity. That represents a measured reduction of only 1.3 percent, giving BYD a striking figure to highlight as it promotes the durability of Blade Battery 2.0.

Yangwang General Manager Hu Xiaoqing also emphasized that the test vehicle was not a specially prepared prototype. It was reportedly a standard production U7 randomly selected from a retail showroom. Hu said, “Yangwang welcomes verification and testing from all independent institutions and individuals,” signaling the company’s willingness to have the results examined beyond its own testing program.

The single endurance run was only part of the broader validation effort. Yangwang said it had deployed 758 U7 test vehicles before the model reached the market, collectively accumulating more than 10.49 million kilometers of testing. The updated U7 also offers battery options of 135.5 kWh and 150 kWh, with the larger pack providing a claimed CLTC range of up to 1,006 km.

Still, the 98.7-percent figure should be viewed as a result from this specific manufacturer-run test rather than proof of identical battery degradation in everyday driving. Even so, subjecting a production EV to extreme heat, sustained high-speed operation and hundreds of rapid charges creates a remarkably intense stress test for its battery technology.

TECH – BYD’s Fang Cheng Bao has officially pulled the covers off its new Ti9, a large plug-in hybrid SUV designed to bring serious power, family-friendly space, and advanced technology into one imposing package. According to CarNewsChina, the flagship model has been revealed in China following its appearance in the country’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) regulatory filings, although its exact launch and delivery schedule have yet to be announced.

Measuring 5,270 mm long with a 3,130 mm wheelbase, the Ti9 is a substantial SUV. Its cabin uses a 2+2+2 configuration, giving passengers six individual seats across three rows. Depending on the version, the vehicle stands either 1,850 mm or 1,880 mm tall and weighs between 2,865 kg and 2,965 kg. Buyers can choose 21-inch or 22-inch wheels, while the SUV has a listed top speed of 220 km/h.

Under the hood, the Ti9 combines a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine with two electric motors. Both the front and rear motors offer a peak output of 200 kW, although their rated outputs are lower at 90 kW and 70 kW respectively. The plug-in hybrid setup is supported by a 66.48 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery, giving the Ti9 a stated pure-electric range of 310 km. The vehicle can also tow up to 2,000 kg when fitted with an optional retractable electric tow hook.

Technology is another major part of the package. Fang Cheng Bao equips the Ti9 with its DiPilot 300 driver-assistance system, also known as God’s Eye B in China. A roof-mounted LiDAR sensor supports Level 2 assistance and navigation functions for both city streets and highways.

Visually, the SUV adopts a boxy design with a continuous LED light strip across the front, an active air intake grille, silver skid plates, and a split rear tailgate called the “Tiandi Gate.” Inside, a wide continuous screen stretches across the center console.

The Ti9 will enter China’s increasingly competitive large six-seat PHEV and EREV SUV market alongside models such as the Denza N9, Li Auto L9, and Aito M9. Fang Cheng Bao says the Ti9 “will not wait too long,” but pricing and delivery details remain under wraps.

TECH – BYD has unveiled its latest electric SUV, the Fang Cheng Bao Ti7 Flash Charging Edition, and it arrives with a headline-grabbing promise: up to 755 kilometers of driving range on a single charge. That is the sort of number that makes range anxiety quietly pack its bags and leave. According to ANTARA, the new Ti7 is designed to strengthen BYD’s growing presence in the premium electric SUV market while showcasing the company’s newest battery and charging technologies.

The Ti7 retains much of the rugged styling from its plug-in hybrid sibling, but beneath its bold exterior lies an entirely different beast. BYD has equipped the SUV with its second-generation Blade Battery, a major upgrade aimed at boosting efficiency, safety, and charging speed. The vehicle measures 4,999 mm long, 1,995 mm wide, and 1,865 mm tall, giving it the kind of road presence that politely asks smaller cars to scoot over.

What truly steals the spotlight is BYD’s Flash Charging technology. The company claims the battery can jump from 10 percent to 70 percent in just five minutes. Push a little longer, and it reaches 97 percent in only nine minutes. Even in brutally cold conditions of minus 30 degrees Celsius, charging takes only about three minutes longer. That is not charging; that is practically teleporting electricity into a battery.

Performance figures are equally impressive. The electric version of the Ti7 delivers substantial power, while the extended range and rapid charging make it a serious contender against established rivals in the EV space. An automotive analyst quoted by industry reports noted, “Range above 700 km is becoming the new benchmark for global EV buyers.” BYD seems determined not merely to meet that standard, but to sprint past it.

Pricing also looks aggressive. In China, the two available variants start at 199,800 yuan and 209,800 yuan, roughly equivalent to Rp506 million and Rp531 million. That undercuts many competitors while offering cutting-edge technology and premium features. ANTARA reports that the Ti7 is expected to be marketed globally under the name BYD Ti7.

For BYD, this launch is more than just another model release. It signals the company’s ambition to redefine what buyers should expect from electric SUVs—longer range, faster charging, and fewer compromises. The race toward the electric future just got a lot more interesting.

INTERNATIONAL- Chinese electric car company BYD has held talks with Brazilian company Sigma Lithium regarding a possible supply agreement, joint venture, or acquisition, as reported by the Financial Times on Sunday.

BYD’s chairman in Brazil, Alexandre Baldy, mentioned that BYD met with Sigma’s CEO, Ana Cabral Gardner, in Sao Paulo last month, but he did not provide further details due to confidentiality agreements.

Both companies have remained tight-lipped, and neither BYD nor Sigma responded to Reuters’ requests for comment. However, the discussions signal an ongoing effort by BYD to strengthen its presence in the South American electric vehicle market.

Sigma, in January, revealed that it had begun the process of an initial public offering (IPO) for its Brazilian subsidiary, Sigma Brazil, which will be listed on the Nasdaq and Singapore stock exchanges. This move aims to increase the company’s visibility and bolster its financial standing as it continues to expand its operations in the rapidly growing electric vehicle and lithium battery sectors.

In July, BYD announced that it would invest 3 billion reais (approximately $600 million) in constructing a new industrial complex in the northeastern region of Brazil.

Meanwhile, BYD, which is backed by Warren Buffet’s Berkshire Hathaway, is making significant investments in Brazil. In July, BYD announced that it would invest 3 billion reais (approximately $600 million) in constructing a new industrial complex in the northeastern region of Brazil. The complex is expected to start operations by mid-2024 and is part of BYD’s broader strategy to increase production capacity and tap into the growing demand for electric vehicles in Latin America. This new venture would further solidify BYD’s commitment to expanding its footprint in the global electric vehicle market and supporting Brazil’s transition to greener technologies.
