INTERNATIONAL – Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison (IOH) has officially inaugurated its third AI Experience Center (AIEC) in Jayapura, Papua, marking a significant step toward equitable digital transformation across Indonesia. This initiative aims to bridge the digital divide by bringing advanced artificial intelligence (AI) technologies to Eastern Indonesia, particularly focusing on education and healthcare sectors.
The AIEC in Jayapura is a collaborative effort between Indosat and global partners such as Huawei and the Wadhwani Foundation. The center is designed to serve as a hub for AI education, offering training programs ranging from basic to advanced levels. It provides facilities for testing AI applications and promotes the development of local digital talent. The center is equipped with Indosat’s 5G network and features training rooms, access to digital learning platforms, and collaborative spaces for students, professionals, and the local community.
Vikram Sinha, President Director and CEO of Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison, emphasized the company’s commitment to making technology a unifying and empowering force. He stated, “By bringing AI to regions that require greater attention, we aim to create more equitable access to quality education and support more responsive and accurate healthcare services.”

The AI Experience Center focuses on two key sectors: education and healthcare. In education, AI enables personalized and accessible learning experiences for students in underdeveloped and remote regions, promoting equal educational opportunities across the country. In healthcare, AI technology allows for faster and more accurate diagnoses of diseases such as tuberculosis, providing critical support for medical personnel in facilities with limited resources.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by key figures, including the Minister of Communication and Digital, Meutya Hafid, and the Vice President of the Wadhwani Foundation, Daniel Tumiwa. During the event, a workshop titled “Kitorang Bisa AI” was held to discuss the utilization and opportunities of AI for the Papuan community. Speakers highlighted the benefits of AI and demonstrated its applications in education and healthcare.
This development underscores Indosat’s dedication to fostering inclusive technological advancement and empowering communities through digital innovation. By establishing the AI Experience Center in Papua, Indosat aims to nurture digital talent and promote AI adoption in Eastern Indonesia, accelerating regional growth and development.
